A new financial and social paradigm is upon us with the rise of cryptocurrencies, initial coin offerings (ICOs), and other emerging blockchain applications and technologies.

Currently, governments and regulatory bodies around the world are grappling with if, and how, they should regulate cryptocurrencies and ICOs. But regulation of one does not necessarily mean the regulation of the other. While they are enabled by the same technology, cryptocurrencies and ICOs are fundamentally different.
