Family Trusts 101. A seminar by Ingham Mora.

Family trusts can be a highly effective mechanism to protect assets, create tax flexibility and provide for inheritance and succession of family and business assets. 
However, change is upon us with the proposed enactment of the new Trusts Bill.

Grant Neagle – Director, CA

Prior to his move to the Bay and joining Ingham Mora in 2017, Grant was a Director at PwC where he worked with a wide range of clients including multi-national companies, tertiary institutions, individuals, Maori iwi and privately-owned businesses across most industries and sectors. 
Grant is an accountant and business advisor who assists clients with all aspects of their business from start-up and structuring considerations to taxation and strategic business advice. 
His repertoire is extensive and includes tax planning and structuring, trusts, new migrants, property transactions, crypto currency, international tax, strategic business advice, as well as business planning, coaching and mentoring. 
A taxation specialist he enjoys working one-on-one with clients to add real value and help them achieve their goals. While he deals with a variety of clients across various industries, he particularly enjoys assisting growth focused clients achieve their goals. While he is a focussed individual with an eye for detail, he has an easy style which helps put clients at ease. 
Outside the office Grant enjoys all manner of water sports, heading to the gym and Crossfit and a game of tennis in summer. Grant’s wife, Tamsyn, is also an accountant which makes for fascinating dinner conversation in their household.

Mathew Floyd – Director, CA

Mat joined Ingham Mora in 2017 to take up the role of Associate after spending seven years at KPMG in Tauranga.
Mat studied at Waikato University where he gained a Bachelor of Management Studies with majors in Accounting and Finance.  Tauranga has been home for Mat for most of his life and he is passionate about supporting local businesses and the economic growth of the region.
He has extensive experience with Family Trusts and a special interest in nurturing growth opportunities for small to medium businesses through tax planning, forecasting and structuring as well as providing straightforward, efficient tax and year-end accounting processes.
In his down time, Mat enjoys social sports, time with friends and family and makes the most of life in the Bay of Plenty.  He and wife Tiffany have a pre-school son who keeps them on their toes at home.

 

Tom Beswick – Director, CA, CFA  

Tom joined Ingham Mora in 2016 and took over as partner when Andrew Walton retired in 2017. He leads a team of five accountants who are all committed to using Xero to the fullest and helping clients achieve more of the three freedoms – more time, more money and less stress. His clients are small to medium sized businesses in Tauranga and the wider Western Bay of Plenty. He has a wide range of clients and experience in industries such as the trades and construction, orchards, financial investments, rentals, forestry, retail and everything in-between.
Prior to joining Ingham Mora, Tom was the financial controller for a large forestry company based in Auckland.  He also had eight years working for a Big 4 accounting firm which took him to Dublin, the Cayman Islands and Vancouver. Tom grew up in Tauranga, attending Bethlehem College and Tauranga Boys College. He completed his accounting degree at Waikato University.  After qualifying as a Chartered Accountant he continued his education and obtained the Chartered Financial Analyst designation to increase his financial analysis skills.
In addition to sorting any IRD returns for clients he is passionate about helping clients look forward, not backwards – the traditional accountants view. Tom enjoys making use of his financial expertise and commercial experience to assist clients with practical and suitable answers to problems. Tom's repertoire includes business planning, succession planning, business valuations, forecasting, helping new businesses get going, and family trust management.  He enjoys using Xero and related apps to provide timely management reporting throughout the year and acts as a ‘part time; or ‘virtual CFO’ to an increasing number of clients.
In his spare time Tom enjoys a bit of golf, going to the gym, and getting out of the office for family time.  His Canadian born wife is a pre-school teacher and he has three young children aged 6, 3 and 4 months.
